This class is open to either those who would like to learn the basics of vulnerable songwriting or for songwriters who would like a supportive environment to practice injecting more emotion into their songs. FAQ

Am I at the right level for this class?

This class is for all levels of songwriters. Since we all have the capacity for self-expression, it isn’t a matter of experience, more of openness to expression.

What will a typical session day look like?

To get us started, we will begin most classes by listening to a recording of an example of excellent songwriting and discussing what we appreciate, would like to emulate, or do not like about the song. We will then go around and each student will have a chance to either ask advice, troubleshoot a song issue, or share something that has worked for them. The instructor will have writing exercises and discussion topics ready if there is a lull.

Will I need an instrument?

Yes..and no. You will have the opportunity to share your songs in this class, though it is not required. Prior to sharing, you can also decide if you want feedback or not, since it is a very vulnerable position. If you have someone who plays an instrument while you sing, they are welcome to join the class as your accompanist at no extra charge.

What else should I bring to class?

In addition to your instrument, bring something to jot down notes and a music stand if you desire. The teacher will have a couple of extra stands if needed.

How does a Drop-In work?

Simply sign up by paying the $30 ahead of class and emailing the instructor which day you are planning to attend. You are also welcome to email the instructor and pay in person the day of class via cash, check or Vemno.

How do I get to TaborSpace?
